I'm sure that I saw an article about fixing a plate under the right hand saddlebag, to protect it from the heat of the exhaust. Unfortunately I've been through the forum again, & I can't find it. Was I dreaming, or can someone tell me where it's vanished to?

I think there's a pic of it somewhere on the boards also, but I'm not motivated enough to really look for it.

Search posts by JIBTEXHNKA. He posted a photo of one that he made.

The title of the thread you are looking for is "fixed my melting-saddlebag problem". You can also search using the key word rivet and you'll find it. I did the fix and it works just great.

Use ammo cans - they don't melt.

But they look like.......AMMO CANS!!

And your point is??

Done right, painted, etc, they don't look that bad compared to anything else - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and they are very functional.
One of the advantages of the cans is that they are infinitely more secure and lockable than soft luggage if you carry anything of value or that you want to hold on to.

Indeed. And lack thereof too! :)

:neener:   This can go on and on and basically gets nowhere except to get antagonistic. I made a point about functionality and security, if you want to talk about what appeals or not to you, I'm done with the conversation. There are many members on here and elsewhere who have and use these things, you don't have to like them. That's your opinion. Just like with wearing helmets, windshields, mods, etc., we all have our own and that's what makes us all different and makes the world go 'round.

That was the point from the beginning. Nothing more, nothing less.
Don't see why you are getting your shorts all in a bunch.

Fine - let's just say I took your comments as being derogatory, maybe my perception, maybe not. We're all here to help each other out, learn from each other, not to be demeaning or supercritical.
I'm ending this here, in peace.

Considering the number of times that subject has been flamed here on this board, I would consider Easy's comments to be a sarcastically phrased prod at a hot subject simply for the sheer glee of watching someone's knee jerk.

I, personally, applaud him.

PS: ATGATT is smart. No ATGATT is stupid.

PPS: Nobody respond to that. ^

You give me way too much credit, but thanks anyway.

I was meerly saying that I personally do not care for the look.
On some bikes, you can arrange them so that they almost look like they belong.
I don't think the GZ is one of them.

Except for you and Alan and a couple of other thick-skinned regulars, I never post anything just to get a reaction.

This is really funny. I changed that 'cause I thought it might be mis-interpreted. Now I have to put it back or else your post will look like you are spacing out.

Oh, crap. Are we polluting yet another "serious" thread ?? :curse:

Yeah, we're taking this board and all of its members down in flames.

Shame on us all. The admins should really clamp down on this shit.

I bet ammo cans are made by Chinamen.

Great ! I feel like Easy and I were in cahoots to finally get some meaningful dialog on here.
Plus, sarcasm and humor are good, nobody here's really nasty or mean, we're all having good clean fun.
Right??

You're right. Patrick's mom is in cahoots with EasyRider because he is a whistling scooter-boy named Alan and keeps all of his repaired saddlebags inside his mounted ammo cans.
