I was trying to get a set of sprockets and a new chain all form the same place so I would not have to pay shipping costs three times. I settled on Lake Cycle (www.lakecycle.com (http://www.lakecycle.com)) and placed my order.

After four days I had not heard any thing a from them so I sent an email to customer service. A few hours later I received a call from Julie at Lake Cycle. She told me that JT Sprockets had discontinued the 16 tooth front sprocket for the GZ250. THe cheap ones are gone so if you know where to get one of these and your considering buying one you had better do it now. Thats the bad news.

The good news is the Sprocket Specialists still has them. Unfortunately it costs me $30 more. I bought front and rear sprockets and a chain.

Thanks for letting us know BadBob. I just called my dealer and asked them to check it out and convert over to the Sprocket Specialists. Sort of a foolish decision on JT's part considering that they must be facing a large set of backorders. Oh well!

UPDATE: my Suzuki dealer's wholesalers couldn't find a 16T. I found the Sprocket Specialist's phone number on their website (www.sprocketspecialist.com (http://www.sprocketspecialist.com)) - 1-800-782-8200. They do have TWO left in stock, but they said they are getting more in next week. Their part number is: 528-16 Front Steel Sprocket (C/S)/Std/16 Teeth/For 520 Chain. Price: $21.99 + $6.26 S&H. They are currently out of chains (BadBob must have gotten the last one!). They don't stock the rear sprockets, but they cut them to order when you ask for one. The part number on the rear sprocket is #461 and the cost is $52.99 plus shipping.

I hope this helped. Thanks for the head's up BadBob!

They may not be discontinued. Both my local dealer and cyclepages.com tell me they are supposed to get more in sometime in mid October.

Discontinued doesn't mean there are not any in the supply chain. Ten years from now someone some where might still have one. It's just harder to find them.

Also check out SprocketCenter.Com . Never dealt with them but they seem to have a lot of possibilities.

I've bought the last sprocket in the only official JT distributor in Spain...

I'll install it soon. I hope they'll build a similar one at time for replacement.

14€ ~ 19$

I think I got the last one from bikebandit. I ordered 2 since they are so damn hard to find and they shipped one and the second is listed as back ordered.

Hey, guys! I don't know if you already have it, but I've found the Suzuki OEM part number for the 16T sprocket!
It was used in the GN/DR 400 1980-1982. You may buy it at any Suzuki dealer.

Here we go... # 27511-37200 :rawk:

This also fits a Suzuki GR650.

Yes, the GR650 owners use that sprocket to swap from 15T to 16T as we do, although their stock one is not exactly the same. That's what Google said...

That Jordan guy kept raving about his OEM sprocket and I never believed him because he could never validate his claims with a part number.

Thanks for this info, Jaime.

Good work.
