Newbie handlebar question

Hey! New to the forum, been looking around and decided to finally signup. I just recently got a stock 2000 gz250 and was wondering if anyone has used this handlebar kit:

Wanna go for more of a cafe/aggressive look and what I am wondering is how it will effect turning and then locking handlebars when parked. Another issue is comfort level with the position of the foot pegs. Looked around and couldn't find a lot of examples with this bar style. Thanks in advance!

You will need the dimensions of the new bars. It is critical not to have new bars that will stretch or hinder the smoothness of the cable operation. The front brake hose is your lifeline so it must never be put in danger of damage.
GZ bar measurements:
height, 7 inches
width, 28 inches
pull back, 10 inches
center, 6 inches
clamp area, 2 1/4 x 4 inches.

You can always live with a little extra slack in the controls if that occurs. Let us know how you make out.

Ok thanks i will try to find out the dimensions, do you have any other more popular suggestions as far as achieving a similar look? Maybe clipons would be better?

No actual experience for my part. You may want to search through all the GZ mods and GZ pics for different looks and bars. Some of the members have made some really interesting mods on a GZ.

Dunno, but with the forward pegs, it seems to me that you'd be bent double. Perhaps not very comfortable. :)

Perhaps not Alantf. The S-40 is very similar in physical size and shape to the GZ and some models had flat bars(?) as factory equipment. It would be just a bit more of a reach I would think.

Just went to my trusty chart. The S-40 has drag bars and only 6 inches of pull back. Won't fit the GZ though. A different diameter bar.

Normally I would post a photo from my personal archives of a GZ with those exact bars, but I've somehow lost the images over the years.
I will tell you that I have seen those exact bars, assuming they are 7/8s, mounted a GZ both in the proper orientation and mounted upside down.
The latter was.... interesting.

Shouldn't be an issue.

Just remember that wider bars make the bike feel more stable and requires less input to steer. Shorter bars will feel more twitchy and require more effort.

Go to "sideroadcycles.com" and check out their chart for bar dimensions. Good place to start.

I actually just google image search based on an idea and roll with whatever I find amusing and on point at the same time. If it's good enough, I have a little personal folder on the desktop for future reference. But it's generally all just on the fly.

That being said, Imgur.com is a great way to find hilarity and other things used on other forums all over the world.
