Goodbye 250 , Hello 750

2001 750 1.jpg[/attachment:2w9jyojn]IMAG0030.jpg[/attachment:2w9jyojn]I got a new daily commuter.

2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 750. Just got it yesterday afternoon. 26K miles on it. $3300 plus the usual unexpected littlle tricks the car and bike dealers use. They gave me $1500 for my GZ. . . . Only after I argued about it.

I am a bit short , 5' 5" and I gotta sit up very straight to see over that dark windshield. I'm gonna have to take it off until I can get a smaller one.

Man, the difference in power is SOOO much, it was scary driving it home. Just touch the throttle a bit and it feels like the bike wants to run away from underneath me. Thats just in 3rd gear.

I am so stoked , as they say in Cali. I'll tell you a bit more after I have it a week or 2.

Well done ecr, my dream bike 2 years ago. The speed and torqu of this bike is awesome! I've seen some wicked bobbers from vn750. By the way, there is a cool forum for these bikes, similar to this one, guys are great there.
Congrats and enjoy!

Very nice ecr, i like it. Congrats. To bad you cant see over that windshield, it looks like a nice one to me. Ride safe fellow New Yorker of mine.

You can get that windshield cut down an inch or two.
Is the seat height OK for you, you get both feet on the ground?

Thats a nice looking bike, a good possibility Id be aiming for a Vulcan come the time I replace the GZ (I hope)
Dont think there are too many of them here though, seen some more modern VN's but they dont have the same look.
Love to have the extra power, I'm thinking doing 70 on the motorway might kill my GZ from what Ive read on the forum.

Hey ecr959. I also went from a GZ to a Vulcan (800). Took me about 500 miles to get over the shock factor and now have a lot of confidence on it. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you, everybody for the congrats. I took off the windshield today. Maybe I'll shave it down a bit or maybe I'll just buy a smaller clear windshield. I felt the heat from the left pipe on my leg today. I gotta put something on the pipe, before it burns me on a long ride.
Hey, now I've got a speedometer , Tachometer, and a gas gauge ! This is luxury !

Here's a pic of the tank, I really like the 2-tone look and the cool emblem. Click on the pic for a closer look.

Killer bike, man.
A buddy and I completely restored an 85 model with late 90s stuff and some matte black paint a couple of years ago.
These are great machines. You've done very well.
