Oil Viscosity

I have my GZ in the shop to have some new tires mounted and the owner/mechanic (Suzuki certified) and I were discussing the heat here in Las Vegas. I told him I ran 20/50 viscosity oil in my GZ during the summer months to protect the engine in the plus 100 degree temps we incur. He said he uses a 50/50 blend of 10/40 and 20/50 which essentially gives him a 10/50 range. Does this sound right? I was always told not to mix different viscosities. Would like to hear from someone learned on the subject.

You can't do any damage by mixing different oil viscosities so don't worry. Make it easier on yourself and just use Rotella 15-40 dino oil. It is a good oil and Jaso certified. It is cheap and works well. Had it in 2 different Suzukis and they really liked it.

I'll second WW's recommendation. The Shell Rotella is really good oil. I've used it in all my bikes over the last 8 years and I've had no oil related issues. I put 44,000 miles on a Vulcan 500 in 2 years and that's all I ever used in it.

I will 3rd it.....I have used Rotella-T for years in all my bikes......From high reving sport bike engines to my v-twins. :)

Thanks for the responses. I will try the Rotella.
