Interesting little bike.

I have ridden since 1971 and have had 38 motorcycles over the years. Harleys, V-max, Honda's, Kawasaki, jawa, on and on. I like all bikes.
I gave up ridding 2 years ago and wasn't planning on buying another. My neighbour was moving and he needed cash really bad and convinced me to buy his 2008 Suzuki 250 for $1200 bucks. It only had 4thousand KMS on it and was like new condition.
It was really hard to start.....the choke knob was seized. I finally got it going and man was it Gutless. It surged really bad as well. 90kms top end ,LOL. I took it straight home into the shop and ripped off the tank and carb. It was similar to the keihin on my old Harley. I drilled out the Lean/ rich mixture screw cavity and realized it was only turned out "1/2 a turn !! That's NOT quality control. I also took the washer from the top of the needle jet and put it under the C-clip to raise the needle a bit more out of the main jet. Cleaned the carb, set the float and put it all back together. WOW does this goofy little bike ever go ! Flat out 130kms. very stable on the high way as well. Avery sure footed bike. I noticed the bike had Metzler tires on it......do they come with them ?? Nice touch !!
I put a Viper windshield on , it works good, but my top end is now 120kms LOL. Next grip.....Gas Tank VIBRATION !! man did it BUZ !! extremely annoying. "comes from a buzzy noisy little motor" I lifted the tank, put some thick foam in the channel, and tossed the round metal bushings that sit in the rubber grommets that bolts the tank to the frame. "buzzing gone". !! Its a ton of fun to ride...I'm enjoying it. Great bike for my retirement.

might as well post a pic. That little travel bag is Zip-tied to the Rear seat and works Great for back support. Just lean back and relax. I love it.!!

oil change WARNING

I felt I had to do an oil change and put in some Amzoil Synthetic. So without consulting a manual or asking....I just went ahead and drained the oil. All of a sudden a SPRING & a ADJUSTER bolt came out...WRONG plug !!
So, went in the house and googled my screw up. I carefully put it back it, filled the bike with oil..and it still shifts fine. I dodged a bullit ! Read your manual, ask,...don't assume.

That happens. You aren't the 1st and won't be the last. :hehe:

I like the simplicity of the whole bike. Dope simple motor, not much to go wrong in the electronics, very user-friendly to work on. You can have the tank & carb off and cleaned in 10 minutes. I had an 800 Suzuki intruder and the Top carb was a real "%itch to get at, and every thing was a challenge to work on. I also had a V max that constantly needed all 4 carbs sync"d to run proper.
This 250 reminds me of my 2001 Kawasaki EN 500. very easy to fix, very light, easy to handle and cheap to fix.

Intruders are just plain neat. Haven't met a rider yet who didn't like them.
I met the original owner of the "Intruder Alert" forum back in 2006 when I was travelling in Alberta. He had recently moved from Eastern Canada to Alberta and we shared a meal together. Can't remember his name but was a real nice guy. He was riding a Vstrom 650(me too) and I met him through the Stromtroopers forum.

V-Max's are so badass.
