Great video on Youtube regarding proper cornering technique

I found this on Youtube and it's fantastic advice imo. Every new comer should take an hour out of their day to watch this at least once. Superb advice.

The fun part is having the skill and knowledge to ride a GZ to it's limits. Riding a mega dollar bike is of no value if you do not have the skill to make use of it's abilities. On back roads with a GZ you can absolutely smoke an unskilled rider atop a 6oo sports bike with no skill in cornering. Just stay away from straight roads.

I ride the highway a lot on my GZ and these tips help so much. The bike feels like it has much more grip. Before, taking a turn at 50-60 mph felt unsteady and kind of scary but now while accelerating during a turn smoothly the bike feels much more stable.

This is in complete contrary to everything I've learned about driving/racing cars. Usually, in a turn you want all the grip and weight on the front wheels.

Here is one reason for adding throttle in a curve. With the bike leaned over the bike will slow down a bit due to running on the edge of the tire which is a smaller overall diameter than the center of the tread. Exactly what you don't want to happen. You want to maintain or increase your speed to corner confidently and safely.
After you get good at that you can try leaning your body to the inside of the turn(turn right lean right)and see how much more the bike falls into the curve. Try it in baby steps though, the bike may surprise you with a real increase in cornering ability. My Vstrom scared the crap out of me when I was experimenting with shifting my body weight and position. My budget adventure bike is far more capable than I will ever be in the twisties. What the heck would I ever do with a real sport bike?
