Daytona Bike Week 2012

I will post a few pictures and tell you about my first Daytona trip.

My riding buddies have been going to Daytona for years (Kirk 26 years straight).

Plans were made to leave Wednesday the 14th, ride straight down 700 miles, and do bike week.
As time got closer to depart, I decided to go a day early and ride all secondary roads.

First stop Delonega, Ga, 147 miles @ 2.2 gallons.

More to come. :)

Next stop was in Dublin,Ga 151 miles away, to meet Ed my 76 year old buddie, who elected to take the Interstate .
We rode down Highway 441 190 miles to Lake City Fl for the night.
Not a bad 488 mile day for a couple of old guys.

When is the last time you saw an outside pay phone?

A local dealer that had owned a Honda dealership for YEARS, got old and died.

He had already closed the dealership, but he had an old warehouse with 300 motorcycle stored inside , with a few still in the crate.

Some of these bikes came from there.

Kinda makes you wonder about forgotten crates in barns and warehouses all over the world. Good pics by the way. Must have been a great time.

On with the Show.

After Ed and I left Lake City, we went to the Race Track to visit the venders.
We were in the middle of the tee shirt, leather and chrome sellers when I see this monster.

If you will notice the standard safety riding gear is a good pair of sunglasses.

The man in the white shirt is getting instructions to go on a demo ride.

We went to the motel in Sanford, about 30 miles west on I-4, to wait on the boys to arrive.
Remember the boys are 46 and 48 years old. They got in about 7:30, so we meet them at a Chili's for dinner.

The nest day we stopped at the auction to check out the bikes.

Yeah, alantf it has it's moments.

This was the 71st year.

We went to see the Daytona 200 motorcycle race, and get some fresh sea food.

More on the food later.
