Riding Pants - Mesh with armor
Hi.
Last year I got my jacket. Time for pants. I do city riding. Rarely above 45 mph, if ever. Commuting around town, etc. I have a Fieldsheer mesh jacket and FF helmet. Leather perforated gloves. Basic work boots. Anyone had any experience with anything like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcyc ... erchandise |
Re: Riding Pants - Mesh with armor
Welcome back Jer,
I have a couple of pairs that are similar to, but not exactly like these. (Tourmaster Caliber) One, I think the price is good (I paid 120ish for mine I think.) Two, I didn't see a zip-in liner (I'm in a much warmer climate, but I keep the liner in one pair of mine most of the time. I guess it depends on the size and what you wear underneath. (I typically wear a pair of compression shorts, but sometimes I also have my soccer stuff on.) In a pinch, mine will go over jeans, if need be. These, in some ways are fancier than mine. I don't have the racing puck and my armor is not removable I don't think. I've been very happy with mine. |

Great, thanks Alan.
How many miles are you up to now? |
Re: Riding Pants - Mesh with armor
I have about 3200 on the GZ and 1500 on the Strat. Had some maintenance issues on the GZ (fixed now) and I've been out of town a lot so that has cut into my riding time a little. I'm hoping to get some more big rides in in a few weeks when my schedule clears up. My commute is only 7 miles, so I don't log much during the week.

You bring up another question I had.
Wearing these over pants. I like that idea too. These arent specifically "overpants" though. If I want that option do I just go a size bigger? Or are they pretty roomy as is? |

That is the problem with buying anything (especially motorcycle gear) over the internet, without trying it on you really have no idea whether you need to go a size up, down or what. I have a Motorcycle jacket that is a Medium, Motorcycle gloves too,and they fit me perfectly. I can't wear a medium ANYTHING, everything i own is X-Large, Except for that gear. |

Right, there is that Music Man.
Mainly I meant the use of something advertised as "pants" and not "overpants" over jeans. I figured they are dramatically different items. Perhaps not. Alan is uing pants over pants it seems. So maybe they arent really any different after all? Thats what I'm asking more or less. Yeah, sizing is tricky. Around here though All I can find in stores is $250+ Its worth return shipping if they dont fit. I can try on 6 or 7 of them if need be and still be WAYYYY less. |

Easy, Lynda had a pair of Olympic pants shortened to fit. The bottom few inches of the legs do not have a zipper to mess with and might be an ideal candidate worth checking out.
