Fuel Stabiliser
 

A question about fuel stabilisers.

If you have a bike that is used infrequently enough that a tank of fuel could last anywhere from three to six months or more, would this be a case for adding fuel stabiliser on a more or less permanent basis. Does the stuff have any effect on the way the engine would run or is it ok to add it to every tank full?

May be a dumb question but something I have wondered about.

Well, I've never used them in my bike, but I used it have in the lawn mower and it seems to help.

I mean, worst case scneario, it either isn't needed or isn't required, as your bike starts up fine without it, and you end up losing $3. It certainly won't hurt to go ahead and give it a shot.

Yes but you have to be careful not to add TOO much because the engine will run rough.
Also, if the fuel isn't used up within a year, it should be drained out and replaced......stabilizer or no.

I've used it with no problems.

Mix it in the gas can buy putting it in the can before you fill it and fill the tank for the can. Don't just dump it in the tank or it might not mix well. You also need to run the bike long enough to fill the carburator with the treated fuel.

If I were in this situation I would keep a can of treated gas and only fill it with that gasoline.
