crankcase cover gasket?
 
Do I need to use gasket sealer on it? Thanks for any info.

Not needed.....But if you do use it for added assurance.......Just a thin coat. :)

I like the silicone type automotive gasket maker......Remember.......a very thin coat on both sides of gasket.......Just enough to hold gasket in place. :)

I use RTV silicone gray or black for better look
Black met American aspects and gray Japanese aspects

Gasket is baked on and will not come off, any ideas out there?

You need something to soften the gasket. Rubbing alcohol might work. If not I''m sure some one will have a better idea. With the gasket softened you can scrape it off but be very careful not to damage the surface of the metal. A plastic scraper will do nicely and is not as hard as the metal so it shouldn't do any real damage. I learned the hard way some years back.

A small sanding disk on a dremell works well & won't gouge. :)
