Homemade trunk

I want to put a small to medium sized trunk on my 2001 gz250 but do not have much money so I was looking in to making my own. I was wondering if any body has done this and could share what wworks/ doesn't work and pictures of their trunks.
Thanks,
CincyKid

Search Google for motorcycle trunks. you will likely find some on ebay for less than $100 easily. Be sure they include mounting plates for the trunk. Also, will you want to put it on a rear carrier or would you want to mount it in place of the passenger seat? Mounting the trunk behind you gives you a back rest to enjoy too. It is easy to create a mounting plate to replace the pass. seat. The trunk mounting plate is then permanently attached to the created mounting plate attached to the bike. We can walk you through the single seat option and trunk/back rest configuration.
A new rear carrier for a GZ is kinda pricey unless some one here has one for sale.

I made my own, it may not be the best but it should get the job done.

That would work very well. A square box always holds the most too. You are right, it isn't fancy but it will do the job and that's what counts.:tup::tup::tup::tup:

That box is awesome.

Thanks for the pictures. I like the way you think. Saved money and got what you needed. Good job.

I just use ratchet straps to strap on boxes or tubs or whatever I feel like carrying. Last one was one of those big rubbermaid-type totes full of clothes and stuff I wanted to sell, that was probably the biggest thing I've ever carried on the freeway... not saying it's a good idea, but it's an idea I've survived several times.
