Pulsing/Surging Bike

Hello,

For the last month I have noticed my bike "pulses" or "surges" as I accelerate. It is more noticeable at slower speeds then dissipates at higher speeds but I can still here a uneven noise from the engine. I hope this explains it. It's very consistent, it doesn't come and go. I am wonder if this could do with the tire or maybe even a bent hub? Thanks to all for your time.

Do the symptoms remain the same regardless of what gear you are in? We have to determine if it is engine or drive line problems. Are the tires pressures in the proper range? Have you adjusted the chain lately? Too tight/too loose?
It will help if we know how long you have had the bike and it's history if possible. How many miles and age. Any recent repairs that might accidently be the cause of the noise?

Mine has done it forever, it comes with the bike. Louder/less loud with a low frequency. Something with resonance in the chain and the sprockets.

I think we could use a clarification here. Is it just a noise or an actual physical pulse that you can feel. If it is a noise I wouldn't get too excited. You have a piece of mechanical machinery doing it's job just under your butt. You are not isolated from noise as you would be in a car.
A good idea is to use ear plugs to protect your hearing on a bike no matter how quiet it may be. Noise levels can be very rider fatiguing whether you know it or not. Trust me on this. I've done my homework and actual testing. Fatigue and slower reponses can hurt you in a bad situation.

Mine was acting like that when I got it. I put a new chain on it and it rides like a new bike.

What was the condition of the sprockets? A new chain will not last for long with worn teeth.
