Shifter rod (foot pedal) question

Hello all, I just bought this 01 suzuki gz250 and i just noticed that the previous owner welded the shifter rod (from foot pedal to trans) because I guess it broke at some point. I dont know how long itll hold so i wanna get a new one put it. I found one on ebay for an 02 gz250. Im assuming that 01-07? is all the same for these kind of parts? what are the biggest differences between the years with the gz250 anyways?
Id be really curious to know. Thank you all!!!!

For a quick check on parts that fit I always look at the fiche pages at Ronayers.com ..........................and check the part numbers for various years.

No problem. That's why we hang around here. There is a wealth of knowledge here for the use of new riders or new GZ riders.
