saddle bag protectors

I'm sure that I saw an article about fixing a plate under the right hand saddlebag, to protect it from the heat of the exhaust. Unfortunately I've been through the forum again, & I can't find it. Was I dreaming, or can someone tell me where it's vanished to?

I think there's a pic of it somewhere on the boards also, but I'm not motivated enough to really look for it.

Search posts by JIBTEXHNKA. He posted a photo of one that he made.

The title of the thread you are looking for is "fixed my melting-saddlebag problem". You can also search using the key word rivet and you'll find it. I did the fix and it works just great.

Use ammo cans - they don't melt.

And your point is??

Done right, painted, etc, they don't look that bad compared to anything else - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and they are very functional.
One of the advantages of the cans is that they are infinitely more secure and lockable than soft luggage if you carry anything of value or that you want to hold on to.

Indeed. And lack thereof too! :)

:neener:   This can go on and on and basically gets nowhere except to get antagonistic. I made a point about functionality and security, if you want to talk about what appeals or not to you, I'm done with the conversation. There are many members on here and elsewhere who have and use these things, you don't have to like them. That's your opinion. Just like with wearing helmets, windshields, mods, etc., we all have our own and that's what makes us all different and makes the world go 'round.

That was the point from the beginning. Nothing more, nothing less.
Don't see why you are getting your shorts all in a bunch.
