Got on a bike after 10 years
 

Hey guys.. a little background - I was one of those suckers who went into the dealership to get a ninja 250 and walked out with a gsxr600, because I was young and dumb. LOL.

After many close calls and finally hitting a car ... I gave up.

But the Rider in me eventually gave in :ride:

This time around .. I decided to get a small cruiser and just ride around my neighborhood/town.

Having a blast so far.

You will really enjoy that GZ. As you have already found out, very maneuverable and responsive and that classic cruiser styling. Good bike to get back into riding. Thanks for the picture and welcome to the forum. Be safe.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you are back on 2 wheels and enjoying it.

History will always have stories like yours. Going in for a starter bike and having been talked into a larger and much faster bike. That was tried on me but I backed away after some thought. Glad I did. New and returning riders don't need all the HP and speed. They need a sensible bike that doesn't overwhelm them. The GZ will help develop your skills and muscle memory without scaring the life out of you or worse.

A good rider training class will give you an edge to smoother safer riding with no bad habits. I have been there and done that. Couldn't believe how many bad and dangerous habits I had developed over the years.

And yea I fell for it...they convinced me by showing me that it would cost an extra 100 a month and at the time I was able to afford it.

Lessons learned and now I don't let any salesman push me into something I don't want.

And dealerships still try to pressure you into buying .. that has not changed a bit.

Oh yeah, a 3000 mile ride on secondary highways sounds about right. :ride:

I started on a big bike when I was 29. Gave it up and didn't ride again till I turned 70. This time went with the GZ and have loved ridding ever since.

I started riding a Bridgestone 350 at 20 years old went to suzuki 250 savage at 22, then a 500 twin until I got into the van seen in about 1976 and quit riding bike until 1990 when I got a 650 Kawasaki road bike. I quit riding that in 1993. I started riding again when I got a 250cc Freedom scooter last fall. It quit running about a week or so ago and I got the GZ 250 now. I will turn 68 on September 28 th. Had to take the Pa test over again because I left my motorcycle license go about 6 years ago. I thought I would not ride again I took the basic riders course and the bike I rode was a GZ 250. When the scooter quit I just had to get one. I enjoy this bike more than any of the others and will for a long time to come.
