Pipe/Exhaust temperature
 

I know i'll regret later for asking this but...

... how high does the temperature of the pipe goes for our bike? I can't seem to find any reference. Some bikes I saw was 750degrees but those are sports bike with higher cc engines.

Yeah... It doesn't really matter. Are you interested in painting and want to know what temp paint to buy?

Even then, just get the hottest stuff and use that. An exact temp. doesn't matter.

Well, I was thinking of getting that durafix (http://www.durafix.com) to weld the new muffler in (I don't have a mig welder... only torch). That durafix has not that high tolerable temperature so I just want to make sure.

Anyways, I guess I'm just going to go to the local auto-mechanic shop and have them do it for me then. Oh well.

ride the bike hard then take the temperature of the pipes. A good cooking thermometer go into the high 3 digit category or get a laser themometer (some can read up to 1000 degrees). If I think of it this evening, I will start mine up, ride it hard around the block and take its temp (we have a laser themometer). Later.

Even if it looks good "on paper", this is a BAD idea. Heat, moisture and vibration would certainly make for a short connection life. :tdown:

I don't even want to think about what would happen when it comes apart. :sad:

No worries... I was just curious (looking for a fast way to do it). I ended up going to the local mechanic and paid $25 to have the filler pipe welded.
