Powerpoint?

Is it possible to upload a Powerpoint presentation to this site, or only individual pictures?

Re: Powerpoint?

Powerpoint is probably not the most appropriate application for a website based slideshow. For one thing, powerpoint files must be read by either powerpoint or powerpoint viewer, neither of which many non-Office users have.

This site supports photobucket and picasa slideshows. I believe they are both free.

Can a pps be uploaded onto one of those?

I don't think so. They are designed to bulk upload pictures and then you can make slideshows from the pictures. I suppose if you made jpgs of your individual ppt slides you could do it that way.

A PIA and maybe not worth it. I'll have to see how many slides there are. I would think most people with a fairly new (few years old) computer would be able to open a pps presentation.
Does anyone know of another site that it could be uploaded to and then get a link to it that could be posted?

As far as I know, unless the latest IE has embedded a "viewer" in it (anybody on IE8?), you need either Powerpoint or the powerpoint viewer to open a PPS. It's not really a function of the age of the computer. Many newer computer users do not use MS Office apps as they can get the same apps free from Google Office. However I don't think Google Office has a powerpoint viewer yet (maybe they do now.) Powerpoint is also not considered to be "cool" and sometimes is shunned just because of its corporate (Dilbertesque) rep.

From an Internet post:

To open PPS files, you can use PowerPoint viewer, the default program for opening
PowerPoint show files. However if this application is not yet installed on your computer,
you can download free function on below link:

Google Docs has a decent Powerpoint viewer and you can share the file however you want.

Re: Powerpoint?

I just uploaded my Powerpoint to Google Docs and it's on the thread "How cold is it?". The upload is very quick and and easy. I posted the URL as a link to it and it worked fine for me. No ppt viewer needed on anyone's computer, the site plays the slideshow. Maybe then this can be useful on here too. Thanks Patrick.

Edit - Alan says he can't access the link on there. Maybe it only works for me. Or maybe you have to be signed on to Google. I'll see if there's anything I can do so that anyone can view it.

Apparently. It took me to the logon screen.

It works now, here's the new link to what I was trying to post.

You have to publish it and then you get a URL which you can post anywhere. or you can send it to a list of emails of people who can access it and even change whatever on it.
It took a few minutes going through the Help section as there are never any instructions on these things.
