Speedo light bulb
A quick question here.
The speedo light on my GZ burned out, and after taking it out and poking around on the internet I found that there are similarly sized LED instrument panel bulbs that can be put in as a replacement. Would I have to put in a resistor type thing to make that work, or can I just put the bulb in plug and play style? There's a nice blue toned bulb I've got my eye on that's supposed to be a bit brighter and really slick looking. They are cheap replacements whether you go regular incandescent or LED, just wanting to know I'm not going to burn something up by putting the wrong thing in. |
Nope your fine....Only time you need a resistor or electronic flasher is if you want to use LED's in the signals.

Ended up going with an incandescent bulb replacement because it was right there and immediately available. Still wanting the blue bulb though. Will post photo someday with blue bulb in place.

Just an FYI for others who's speedo bulbs burn out. Part number is 9471-12108. Bulb is, of course, a 12volt, 1.7W bulb. If not available, a similar bulb is available from Honda. Cost between $2.50 and $3.00 each.

Just an update on the speedo bulb replacement. It didn't solve the issue. Must have a loose or broken wire somewhere. Disappointing. Will have to try and track it down when I have more time.

Found the problem. I must have blown a fuse when I pulled the old bulb out as the socket is loosey goosey inside the socket. Replaced fuse, problem solved. Glad it was something simple as I had no tail light or running lights.
