4+ years of riding and it finally happened
My GZ served me well but I finally made the jump to a bigger bike
I wanted to hand onto it and was reluctant to trade it in but I really don't have the space for two bikes at home Hopefully someone else will pick it up and learn on it the same way i did....or maybe if the dealer has trouble moving it I'll get it back off him a bit down the road Here's a few pictures of the new bike The riding position is a bit....different |

Congrats on the new ride. 5 or 6 times as many ponies should be very entertaining for a long time. Please be very careful, sport bikes are very quick.

Viirin!
Congrats! GSX-Rs are speedy gonzales, can't imagine myself on it in longterm, cause I want to feel cosy when riding. How do you like it? It must be quite a leap and change of personality from GZ ;) |
Re: 4+ years of riding and it finally happened
Yeah the difference in power is insane - it feels like the wind is going to take your head off when accelerating but it had a 33hp restrictor fitted by the previous owner which I'm leaving in for a few months until i get comfortable in the new riding position and used to the delicate throttle response
I don't think it would be wise to jump to the full 90-something HP straight off the bat The position was pretty uncomfortable at the beginning but mainly because I was doing it wrong - getting the hang of it now and it's more and more comfortable every day I had gotten comfortable on the GZ - too comfortable which i think was leading to apathy when riding....it's nice to be terrified again - makes me more alert |

Fear is built into us for a reason. It helps to balance out our natural stupidity. Haha

Nice bike man. You'll want to look into new cornering techniques to really start to appreciate sportbikes. There are classes and probably local riders clubs. |
Re: 4+ years of riding and it finally happened
Doing a lot of reading about body positioning and getting your centre of gravity as low as possible on the turns but I guess reading can only get you so far - I should probably look into lessons but they're so expensive around here

Large parking lots on days/times when the businesses are closed can help. It's as close as you can get to a closed-course environment.
I mean, it's not all THAT much different. But to really take advantage of the new tech that you have, you'll want to learn some skills and some more riding techniques. You'll really enjoy it. |

Nice looking bike.
I don't seem to be able to get away from Suzuki's. I guess I just like them. |
