Newbie Tire Questions
 

Hey everyone! This is my first post and this seems to be a very friendly and informative group of people, so I thought I'd ask for some help....

I have a 2001 GZ250 that I need two new tires on and I just read that you can't have tubeless tires on spoked wheels. My current tires are the factory installed Dunlop d404f's. So my questions are as follows....

1. How can you tell if your current tire is a tube tire, tubeless tire, or a tubeless tire with a tube - without having to take the tire off?

2. Are the spokes on the rim sealed at the factory so that you can run tubless tires at any time?

3. Is it better to have a tube tire or a tubless tire, or does it not really make a difference?

4. I was hoping to get this Shinko SR735 for the front and this Shinko SR734R for the back.

Would these two tires work or would I need to purchase tubes (and whatever else). If I do need to get tubes, what kind/size would I need?

ok cool. This may be a dumb question, but I need to make sure before I buy tires.... can the 2001 GZ250 rims run Tubeless tires (I've read only certain rims can) and has anyone successfully run tubeless tires with tubes on their GZ250 with no problems?

Yes.Most tires you buy today are tubeless. ;) :)

Another question: Is an IRC tube sized "4.00/4.60-16" the correct size for the 110/90-16 tire?

To anyone wondering this exact question and have searched this forum and the entire internet for an answer, only to discover there isn't one.... here's the answer:

The correct tube size for a 110/90-16 tire is a 3.75/4.00-16. However there isn't a tube made in that size. The closest sizes are a 3.25/3.50-16 and a 4.00/4.60-16 (at least the tubes made by IRC, that is)

Either of those sizes will work, but a 3.25/3.50 is probably better because there would be less of a chance for wrinkles and pinches.

Looks like you have spent alot of time researching this. This should be helpful for others. Thanks for the information. Thats what I love about this forum. Everyone posts information they have learned about, which helps someone else down the line.
