handlebars

we all know that the geezer uses 7/8 bars, and that we can use bicycle handlebars. that just seems too easy. i was talking to my dad about it, and he thinks that motorcycle bars are probably made out of thicker tubing. has anyone considered or looked into this?

Re: handlebars

Motorcycle bars would have to be stronger and have a more dedicated clamp area than regular bicycle bars. I am sure there are some cross overs in there that would work but workable high end bicycle bars would be very expensive. There might also be vibration and flexability issues involved too.
All I really have is personal experience bending motorcyle bars with my hips when the bike suddenly stopped moving and I didn't.
