GZ New Bike?

How many people bought a new bike? Keep your GZ or sold it? What did you get for your GZ? Please tell us us price and year, mileage if you sold your GZ, as they are not worth much as a trade in or a private sale.

Just for clarification, there will be a noticeable difference in U.S and Canadian prices. Can. pricing is higher and the folks down under really pay big time.
Lynda paid $4400 OTD in 2006 for her 2006 GZ with 385km on the bike. The bike would have been closer to $6000 new with all taxes and fees. She sold the bike in early 2009 for $3100 with 12000 or 13000 kms on it. The bike would then be subject to a 12% tax again at the Gov office when registered and licensed.

I bought my 2007 GZ in December 2009 for $1500. I sold it in August 2010 for $1600 when I purchased my 2009 V-Star 650.

I bought my '99 in early 2009 with about 3000miles on it for $1500, put on a engine guard/crashbar, saddle bag supports (off Ebay), hard ammo can side bags, a SS28 windshield, new tires and front brake, put a few thousand miles on it and sold it in 2010 for $1800 when I upgraded to the S50. I got my money out of the bike, and probably wish I had it back now.

Purchased my '98 for $2200NZD in 2010 I believe. Pretty sure it was winter too, because it was really freezing cold riding it home. Haven't sold it, its sitting in the back of the garage under a mountain of boxes. I am hoping one day it will be a 'barn find' worth heaps of money to a collector. Frankly right now, she isn't worth anything really with the new laws that came into effect regarding learner bikes etc, there has been a flood of 250cc motorbikes for sale, and no one wants them because you can ride bigger bikes on your learners now. I have seen a couple of GZs for sale on trademe for months while I was looking for my new bike. Wouldn't be surprised if they are still there. Also the small 250cc market is flooded with the GN250 here, not many people know of the GZ.

Clonak- why are you not out riding that? Hope you at least put some fuel stabilizer in it and can connect the battery to a charger once in a while, otherwise it may take a little bit of work to get it running again. Otherwise it's worth even less than you think.

Paid $1400 for the 2008 last summer. Built a rack, added cheap saddlebags, paid $100 for a stock exhaust because the PO had chopped open the muffler. Serviced it with synthetic and sold it to my daughter last month for $1400, still has under 5000 miles.

Im not riding it because I have a new bike. Well, not _new_ but new to me. She didnt run properly anyway, battery is naffed now, carb was leaking like a sive, I do keep planning on looking at it, but she'll keep. They are tuff nut old bikes. Iv seen GN's sit for years and fire right up, with a cough and a splutter, but doesnt take long to clear its throat.
