To hot to go outside so....

I built an antenna outta junk parts as per plans off the intarwebs.
Just to pass the time and distract myself from stressing a serious situation.

Just need a 300 ohm to 75 ohm balum and it's ready to try.
Gonna run it into an old Comcast RF amp into my old tv

Hope this works better than my Teriyaki chicken did.
Worst meal I've ever cooked.
And I followed the recipe perfectly.

Yeah, that will give you 3D television. Channels 4, 5 and 9 all come in at once. .................................... That's what I was told by my neighbor.

Holy crap this antenna REALLY works! :wtf:

I got channels I couldn't get before. And some that were 'fringe' are now solid
reception.
Check out the intarwebs for this one....
If your a cord cutter...

Why not if you don't need/want cable or a dish. You can't argue with the price.

That antenna is a beautiful 8-bay reflector. Glad it works.

Do you have a rotator too, because they are quite directional? You may not need one if all stations are in the same direction, or if they are close by enough.

Wow! Coincidence!
I just decided to modify the very antenna haphazardly this very night :)

Anywho. What's funny is this thing does great for general uhf work but my favorite channel
in the whole wide airwaves is vhf according to the reference material I've found.
Aka the ant is tuned for about 300 mhz and the fav channel is much lower.

So... I decided to, without doing any wavelength calculations, to increase the reflector and
whisker size over 50%.
Considering I'm an e-tech and have lotsa ham radio experience I should be totally ashamed...
But I'm not.
I'm just a lazy tinker :-p

Anywho. Ant is now doing great on my fav channel and the rest down low but I've lost 2 of the
weaker ones up high.
I'm gonna run it as is for a day or two then trim down the whiskers an inch at a time to see
if I can find a happy medium.

I've saved the old reflectors and whiskers (bow ties) so I can revert back to original, properly tuned, instantly.

Yes the ant is quite directional 5th. But the broadcast ant farm is clustered southeast of me
so i can just aim once and pretty much go except for a couple few stations.
And directionality is an understatement ;)
This thing is more accurate than a compass once I pulled up google maps of the ant broadcast towers
in relation to my house. It's pretty much dead on just by trial and error.
Within a few degrees of South East.

Thinking of trying a yagi next ;)

The oversized one.
Ditched the rf amp almost imeadiately on the original version. Did no good.
I new those old trophies would come in handy ;)
