Neutral light doesn’t turn on anymore.

Hi all!

I have a 2009 GZ250. I am reaching out because I am all out of ideas and need some help!

I made the mistake of leaving the bike on idle for far too long until it turned off on its own.

Before I made that mistake I was able to put the bike on neutral and start the bike with the kick stand down. After I overheated it, the neutral light no longer turns on. The headlight and turn signal light still all work just fine.

I now have to start the bike with the kickstand up and the neutral light never turns on.

The bulb seems fine (I switched it with the turn signal light and it worked) and I also checked the spark plugs and they also look good. The battery is brand new and fully charged.

Not sure where else to look.

The bike runs just fine but I would love to have the option of seeing the neutral light and starting it with the kickstand down.

Thanks in advance!

If the bike won't start with the sidestand down, it means that it's in gear. It's a safety frature so that you can't ride off with the stand down. Sometimes it's really hard to find neutral on the GZ,

Rode it around, made sure it was on neutral. The neutral light still doesn’t come on and it doesn’t start with kickstand down.

Not sure if I fried a wire of something.

Took a look at the neutral switch. The little wire was soldered on to the metal part came loose and wasn’t making connection. Picture attached. Stripped the wire a little and wrapped it around. Worked!

Neutral light now turns on and I don’t need kick stand up to start bike when I’m neutral!
