I have to put my vote in for the vulcan 500. I moved up to this bike from my GZ and can not believe the difference. I found my 98 model Vulcan on Graigslist for $1,200 with 23K miles...

Had to jump in on this one. What about the Kawasaki Vulcan 500. This is the bike I went to from my GZ. The Vulcan 500 is inexpensive and reliable. I found a 98 model with 23K miles on it for $1200....

Moved up to the Kawasaki Vulcan 500. Still not big but has about 30 more horsepower than the GZ does. I will miss the 70 plus mpg of the GZ. The Vulcan only gets 52 mpg. Still not too bad though.
