Could very well be the headlight shell. If theres a crack in the casing or the clear display allowing water in that could well be the cause. Does the back light come on your speedometer?

So definately an exhaust issue, which also explains why white smoke appears to be coming from the engine. Cool, ill use my newly acquired service manual to fix it myself rather than waste more time...
