Ouch, have you checked to make sure the rod isn't bent? Is the piston damaged?

I would clean that piston really good and look for hairline cracks.

I know this is a little old,however, I would join the 2 pieces back together with a piece of aluminum tubing. Then use alumaweld to braze it all back up. Should make it stronger than before.
