Re: Yet another thread about Easy Rider Being a Hard Headed

Hey guys, been awhile. Looks like Easy Rider is still up to his same ole same ole. He's over on the Motorcycle Forum.com forums being an a-hole (I'm assuming he doesn't spend much time here anymore?).

Re: Install a 16 Tooth Front Sprocket

I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread already, but you should NEVER use a torque wrench to loosen a nut! Use a breaker bar, or even a large crescent wrench (which is what I used to...

Harbor Freight. $12. Works like a charm for me.

Re: Hey guys, An update on everything over here :)

FWIW, surface rust isn't an indication that your chain needs replacing. It's just an indication that the surface of the links are rusty! ;)

If you do change the chain, change the front and rear...

Re: Suzuki Savage.

Or you could just suck it up and get the GZ's big brother!

Re: new clutch lever not close enough

I assume you got an aftermarket lever? Try an OEM lever ($15 from Bikebandit.com).

Re: How much insurance do you pay?

*gets annoyed at people who think state minimums is "just fine"*

I pay $180/year for $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury, UM, and UIM coverage on my Marauder. No comprehensive or collision. I think my...

Re: Quick fuel filter question

Nope, to both questions.

And even if they did, fuel filters are dirt cheap and quick/easy to replace.

Re: Yamaha v-Star 650 Silverado edition

Well, it may not be a cruiser in the traditional since (the same way that a Sportster technically isn't a cruiser), but it's still got a lot of the cruiser ergonomics.

Victory Vision:...

Re: Yamaha v-Star 650 Silverado edition

Define "ultimate touring experience." Honestly, the whole Iron Butt thing would be pretty dull for me, and not my idea of what touring should be, i.e. spending so much time on the road that you don't...

Re: Yamaha v-Star 650 Silverado edition

+1

I, for one, find my Marauder to be far more practical than any of my previous bikes (GZ, Kawasaki KZ550, and Suzuki Katana). With the Mustang seat is is also the most comfortable bike I've had,...

Re: Yamaha v-Star 650 Silverado edition

1998 Suzuki Marauder 800 w/ saddlebags - $1700
eBay Mustang Seats and Jardine Sissy Bar - $250

Total: $1950

I don't see why anyone would buy a small cruiser new. ;)

Re: Yamaha v-Star 650 Silverado edition

A V-star 650 will be a step down from the Vulcan 500 performance-wise. A pretty significant one at that.

Re: Looking for a windshield

Pretty sure the Marauder has 1" bars. ;)

I've looked at just about every style of windshield available for the Marauder and the only ones I like are the Slipstreamer Stealth and the "standard"...

Re: Looking for a windshield

It's 14" from the top of the headlight cutout to the top of the windshield. The second picture is a Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600. I measured it on my bike (the bikes in the ebay pics are much larger...

Looking for a windshield

Man, these things are expensive, aren't they?!

Anyway, I'm trying to decide which windshield to get for my Marauder. I'm torn between a standard National Cycles or Memphis Shades windshield and...

Re: Have questions GZ250 or Rebel 250?

The MPG values you see in review should be seen as the low end of the range. IMO, they probably really flog these bikes when they review them and that results in poor gas mileage. For instance,...

Re: Have questions GZ250 or Rebel 250?

I found a 1998 Suzuki Marauder 800 for $1700 (talked him down from $2000). All you gotta do is look and be willing to try to negotiate price. The economy is making this a buyers market, so you have...

Re: Have questions GZ250 or Rebel 250?

If you're wanting to be able to ride on the interstate, then sadly neither the GZ or Rebel will be the ideal bike. I honestly wouldn't get on the interstate on a GZ if my life depended on it, but...

Re: Parts started falling off my bike today!

Speaking of vibrating bikes, I was sitting beside a Harley today at a stop light and couldn't help but notice the entire engine vibrating in the frame AT IDLE. Geez, that can't be good for the engine...
