Hit the starter switch with electrical contact cleaner rather than relying on WD40- glad you got it going by looking at the simple things first instead of replacing things that don't need to be replaced. While you're at it, spray the other switches too, like the RUN/Stop switch, they may not be far behind in having the same problem.
