I would just research online. I personally have never felt the need for a tach on my bike for the kind of riding I do. Once you have put some miles on your bike, you can tell by ear when to shift. In other words, the bike talks to you and you listen. Not trying to get spiritual here, just saying that you need to listen what your bike is trying to tell you by the sounds it makes. Does that make sense?
