Loose gearshift lever

I was adjusting the gearshift lever upwards on my bike, and I noticed there is A LOT of slop in it - seems as if there is a bushing that is supposed to be there between the lever and the mount that is probably shot or something. Does that sound about right? Has anyone had any experience with this?

I doesn't seem like there would be much to taking the lever off - seems like it's held on with some kind of cotter pin setup or something. I was just wondering if anyone has changed/replaced that bushing, if there even is one, or if I am totally off the mark here. Hey - wouldn't be the first time - just ask my ex-wife!

Thanks all....

Re: Loose gearshift lever

There is no bushing, just a washer and a c-clip.If the washer is missing there will be a lot of play in shifter.
