moving to North Carolina

Yeah, I think I'm gonna do it. My friend called me today and told me I could stay with him, indefinitely. Until I find a job, then I'll get that room or small apt. I've already got the ball rolling, I've applied to a few jobs I saw at a website and I uploaded my resume with my friends address on it.

I got a question for you guys that have done this before, about transporting a bike. One way -- from NYC to Raleigh, NC.
I got around 3 quotes from companies, $608 , $550 , and the best is $295 but I gotta say Y or N by saturday on that last one.
I think $295 sounds good ... what do you guys say ?

I didn't want to leave the gz behind.

Sounds like great adventure. In the grand scheme of things this might have been the reason for no work in Staten Island. You are ment to be somewhere else in this chapter of your life.

I say leave the bike behind for a month or two, just till you get settled. You can always get it down to you.

Re: moving to North Carolina

UPDATE: I just went to that USHIP website and accepted a bid for $280. So, this thing is gonna happen. I just spent money to get the gz to NC, so .. , the ball is rolling.
I would have considered what RR said, about waiting a month, but I don't have anyone here to do things for me. I am staying with my daughter, she has her career and 2 kids and a house , etc. And my son-in-law is with the NYPD , he doesn't have any free time to spare to do my little personal errands. I'll get this done myself.

I got a new question for all of you NC residents = how long can I ride in NC with my NY license ? Can I ride the gz with NY plates for at least a little while?

thats how it feels like to me, WW. Now, I'm gonna go and spend the last of my savings over there. It is scary, but it is a very strong motivator. I was aggressive here in NYC looking for work, any fulltime job. But now ... I'll have to be super aggressive, because I'll be living off the last of my money. I'm looking at Google maps right this minute, just to see what businesses are near my friend's house. I might as well apply to those nearby businesses first.

You can always bag groceries for a few weeks until you find something better.
