You have to be careful to because (ethanol) is a water attractant, and it degrades faster then just straight gasoline. Just what we needed huh. :cuss:

Good way to sell you a gallon of gas and only give you 9/10ths of a gallon.. the ethanol doing nothing but take up space.

The only good thing ethanol does is give extra cash to the farmers who grow it.

We are still not to the bottom of this octane thing. You may have gotten the wrong manual for your bike OR the bike might have originated in Canada.

Canadian bikes also require 87 octane gas. Good thing too as an Imperial gallon is $6.67 again. That would be $5.34 an American gallon.

Oh, Easy beat me on the comparison between European (91=...) and USA (...=87) octane ratings differences.

That said, ethanol has an OH-(oxygen and hydrogen) group, just like the previous additive MTBE, and gasoline without "oxygenate" is purely carbon and hydrogen (=the stuff that burns).

Gasoline with ethanol is essentially and literally watered down, or partially burned, gasoline.

The scam is publicly defended by saying that gasoline with ethanol delivers less CO2. Which is true, because now oxygen is part of the volume that you pay for.

Take a look at this site for a bunch of info on octane rating for gasoline. This is probably more than anyone wants to know. Interesting stuff.
