Contemplating a long solo trip for the first week of Fall

I appreciate everybody's thoughts and advice. I definitely need to do a couple of long rides to get a better idea of what my limts are. Regarding adverse conditions, the heat and the possibility of high winds while crossing the Mojave are a very real concern.
