Re: oil & air filters

I just wanted to address the issue of fram oil filters. The CalSi site is excellent, with lots of great information. That being said I have a Honda filter (for my GL650) sitting next to a Fram filter and a HiFlo filter, and if anything the Fram looks to be at least the equal of the OEM and the HiFlo, although looks can be deceiving. I don't see any cardboard end caps on any of them, they are all steel. And the rubber parts look fine on all of them. I have no qualms of using any of them in my precious 26 year old engine. (interesting factoid, the cx-gl-500/650 engine was first designed for and used to power a sewage pump, running at 7500 rpm in continuous service. It is no wonder the "babied" cycle engines last 200,000 miles or more before major overhaul. Now that is some obscure motorcycle trivia for ya)!

The endcaps mentioned are INSIDE the filter housing......similar the the endcaps on a paper air filter.
