Vulcan Saddle bags fit GZ? - Page 2

The width (14") seems a little wide.I believe mine were around 12".Check the measurement between signal light & shock to be sure.My brackets held the bags out past the shock so it didn't rub the bags.I also had aftermarket exhaust,so it was lower and the bag touching was not a issue.I cannot measure for you because I no longer have the bike.But I can post a picture for reference.

Blaine.....would you have been able to mount the bags a bit higher and more forward if needed ?? Just curious.

Yep.It would have been a matter of making the strap shorter between the bags & sliding them farther ahead.In the picture I've eliminated the strap and hard mounted them to the sissy bar.I never liked the leather strap that lays over the fender.If you don't protect the fender the leather will mess up the paint.It's also cleaner looking without the strap.

Just mine knowledge about bags; you can put a bags up to 39 cm, but then you have to relocate the blinkers - turnlights.
Or, like this store is recommending the saddle bag for gz

Looks like the form of the bag is allowing (even though it's 40 cm) to be mounted,l i prosume without relocating the turnsignals.
Guys from other forum suggested to me, to draw the bag (according to measurements) on the thicker paper and aligning it to the bike. If it goes, but it's not going well with the holders, then you try to make a holder of your own or some one else makes it for you. But first the measurements of the bags are top priority. Relocating the turnsignals is PITA said owner of gz to me, when i talked to him about that.

Get a bike like my Honda PC800 - can carry lots of groceries and other "stuff" in it's built-in trunk.

The Harley guys go nuts when they see how much beer you can carry in there.

Not only is it huge by bike standards, but it's locked, and in addition to everything else, it can fit a full face helmet, raingear, etc., along with the groceries or whatever else you want to bring along. The GIVI top case is also lockable and is removable and for traveling you can take it off like a suitcase and bring it with you if you spend the night in a hotel room or someone's house.
That bike is a '90 and even with 73,000 miles on it, runs just like new - after all, it's a Honda. Like I previously said, some members on the PC800 forum have reported having 200-300,000 miles on them. It's incredibly smooth and quiet and handles amazingly well. You can't beat these for either short trips to the grocery store, or for those long mileage travels, unless you want a gigantic Goldwing (with the radio, GPS, CB, cruise control, and everything except A/C). :2tup:
