from Illinois

Well if all goes well I will turn over 8,000 miles today. I bought the bike used in May of 2005, and did not ride it in 2010. The carb was gummed up, and I rode a Yamaha dual sport last year.

This year I have averaged over 80 mpg after getting the carb cleaned. A friend did it for me for free. He likes to work on bikes. He just returned, and I think hi is bored.

I have 4 cycles to choose from to ride, but on short trips, and just messing around I prefer the GZ. I have 2 Yamaha dual sport tw200. One is licensed for Illinois, and the other for Arizona. I brought the one home from Arizona, but will probably eave it out there this next winter, as I plan on getting a place to store it.

The other cycle is a 2008 Kawasaki Nomad 1600. My wife and I usually take this together. I seldom ride this by myself.

I also ride a Honda Rincon and Rubicon atv.

Re: from Illinois

On the mileage. I use a synthetic oil 10w40 Amsoil. Other than that everything is stock. I do spray so lube on the chain almost everyday. Whatever I can hit without moving it. So the chain does not get completely lubed, but it gets some everyday. Then about 300 miles, I make sure I do the hole chain. I have a life time average over 80, and that is for 7000 miles, as I got it used.

I usually avoid the main highways, and take the back way. I pick up trash up and down our roads, so I am slow speed part of the day. I cruise 40 to 45, I can look around more at the farm fields and stuff like that at the sower speed. I have 190+ miles on this take, and still have not switched to reserve. I did add some sea foam a tank full or so ago. I don't know if that helped or not.

Re: from Illinois

Heck I am retired, I am in no hurry to get anywhere.

If I am going to go 60, I will ride the big bike with a windshield.
