Rattle in the Engine

I was wondering if anyone knows what might be happening to my GZ250? I have a rattle in the engine when the bike is moving. It sounds like a metal plate rattling back and forth and am not sure where it is coming from. Already checked the exhaust and if there are any screws loose. Any help is appreciated.

Could be any one of a hundred things. Check your chrome covers at the top of the engine. I had one of those screws fall out and the cover can rattle. Maybe your chain cover? While you're at it, check everything.

Re: Rattle in the Engine

Put bike on side stand.
Crank bike
Have someone twist throttle slighty while you crawl around on all 4s listening for when the sound is coming from.

Then, share a drink and laugh at yourselves after a job well done.

Re: Rattle in the Engine

My wife's bike did the same thing only at higer RPM right before she shifted. after checking all the normal stuff , it turned out to be the cam chain tennisor. It very easy to change. The bike had about 8000 when I replaced it.
