Where you been Jonathan? We've missed you. How's the scoot?

Re: K&N air filters

I've been around. Patrick wrote me a sappy love e-mail basically begging me to come back...
So, here I am.

The scoots working fine. We had a period of rain that basically didn't stop for almost a month. So I've been almost exclusively in the Saab lately. Now that the rain has stopped we're seeing temperatures around 12 degrees F. Needless to say, I'm still in the car. Sucks.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm sure glad you didn't mention the "personal" pictures I sent along with that email...

Re: K&N air filters

oh, i did not apperceive that we aerosol the oil outside, that's why i was apprehensive how the oil leaks. and amuse explain the additional part. for the cars or bike does the added or cleaner air puts added accent on engine or eats it abroad beforehand than recommended time period? Pulling off the air clarify absolutely is creating a changeless breeze of air, clashing accepting a K&N. If that were the case, why advertise em lol. K&N lets added air in but still maintains some restriction. So i wouldn't say that's a acceptable comparison.

the only reason a k&m filter is red is because the oil you spray on it is red. it will not leak any oil ever unless you spray crap loads of oil in the filter only spray enough to lightly coat the filter with oil, when you buy the filter its already sprayed with oil so your good on that till you need to wash it.

the k&n has bigger holes in it. if you do not spray it with the oil the dirt will not stick to the filter and more dirt will get threw to the enigne. the k&n filter is a great product if properly oiled.

The K&N filters I have used came oiled and will last thousands of miles. When you want to clean the filter you buy their cleaning solution along with the red oil. When clean spray lightly with the oil. Filter in a car is suppose to last 100,000 miles. In a car I have noticed minimum improvement in performance unless you have a ram induction system. Think it is the ram air induction and not the filter that gave me a good boost in performance. (On a 2002 Corvette)

just a air filter alone will barley give you any performance gains. it will but not much. the most i notice is a vehicle seems to run just a tad bit smoother after i stick a k&n in there. thats about all it does on a car unless like mentioned you get the whole system and than you will feel a slight bit of preformance increase, not sure how one of these filters react when you put one in a bike but they do last for ever so if your gonna have that bike a long time its worth buying one.

[Edit] Guess this is a repeat of my post from last November!

On an unmodified North American model GZ, it will actually make your performance MUCH worse.....because the bike will run WAY lean. You can see the effect by running without any air filter for a couple of minutes. Don't get out in traffic though!

Bikes designed for other parts of the world are not quite as lean from the factory so the difference might not be as much.
