Maxing out at 40mph

Good Morning Everyone,

My GZ250 is not moving like it used to, i had been riding it everyday, had a problem with the bike dying while riding so i cleaned the carb and it started running again but came back with a different problem - The Speed.

It used to get up and go, i mean it was fun and a little fast cruiser. Now it just takes its sweet time to go and maxes out at 40.

Air filters clean, carbs clean, seals are tight, battery is good, hoses are fine. Don't know what else i can do.

I did read in a different forum that it might be Lash Adjusters and i have no idea about those. Anyone else go through this before ?

The main jet and idle jet might be switched in the wrong place. They look the same but make sure the main jet going to the needle is the bigger hole.

Don't wait too long with the valve adjustment.
