Crashed in the rain

My riding buddy (Ed) and I were riding to Dahlonega, Ga. to have a valve stem replace on his
Moto Guzzi today.
We left about 8:30 and got down the road to Tellico Plains, Tn. where we stopped for a bathroom break and Ed could put on his rain pants.
The light rain had started about 15 miles back up the road.
As you leave Tellico, the roads gains in elevation and get curvy.
Well about three miles up the road I start into a left hand curve and the back end tries to pass me.
I was just along for the ride then and wound up going down on the right side.
Ed stopped behind me, and a man came out of his house which has a driveway on the right in the curve.
The first thing the local said was " I heard you crash, I have been trying to get the highway department to do something about that curve cause it is always slick."

The only damage to me was landing on my phone in my right pocket and a small bang on my right elbow.

Very glad you're alright.
The damage to the bike doesn't look too severe either. The forks are good, right? The broken blinker creates and optical allusion, I think.
And did the gas tank get a knock?

The gas tank will got hit big time with the bars.
Exhaust and foot peg.
The bars are bent and the triple was off center on the ride back.
Only going about 35 or 40.

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt badly. The fact that you are already on the forum and relaying the mishap is a good sign. Your gear saved you from a lot of grief later. Hope you had a Doc take a look at you just to be sure.
Riding gear can be replaced and the bike fixed. Oh yeah, the front signals can be replaced with Buell units that are much better and a whole lot cheaper.
Once again, glad you are up and about.

After checking some parts pricing, I may be bike shopping.
I sure had no plans to replace this bike.

As you well know WW, the 650 motor is a lot of fun to ride.

P.S. No Doc, just a couple of bumps, I'll not get on a soap box,but ATGATT for me.

Ouch, bike shopping can get expensive. On the bright side it can be fun. Being the off season should help somewhat and with the new models coming out of hiding there should be lots of low mileage trade-ins or private sellers wanting to upgrade. A new SV 650 would be nice and they are a pretty decent price even here in the GWN. A slightly used SV is likely the best deal around if you want to keep that style of bike.
You should be able to part out the crashed bike to lower the cost of a replacement bike. Tis a shame overall as your SV looked to be pristine and very enjoyable to ride.
I am glad you are ATGATT or otherwise you may not be typing to say OOPS.

I have full coverage insurance, so we will see what the outcome will be.

An FZ1 or Suzuki Bandit has never been far from front runners for me.

Wow, glad you are okay. ATGATT fore sure! Your helmet is a good reminder of why a full face is a good idea.
