Looking at the wiring diagram, it shows that the battery +ve goes straight to the starter relay, with a fuse tapped in, which goes to the ignition switch etc. So it's starting to look like your problem's in the starter relay itself. Note - If you change the starter relay, be sure to put the two thick cables to the same terminals that you took them off. If you reverse them, the system won't work, because the +ve will be on the wrong side of the relay coil (one side of the thick wire (from the battery) goes to the side of the terminal that feeds to the voltage regulator, ignition switch and lights etc) Before you decide to swap the starter relay, it might help to give it a thorough going over, to check for any obvious faults.
