How and why you decided the gz250 was for you?

When you were looking for a bike or decided you wanted to start riding.. What made you choose the gz250 ?

I didn't choose the bike. My wife Lynda wanted to ride and choose her 2006 GZ. She liked the look of it and the physical size didn't intimidate her. She rode it for 3 seasons before upgrading to a Suzuki M-50 in 2009. She swore the GZ gave her the skills, experience and confidence to upgrade to a larger V-twin.

I chose the GZ because it had the largest stock gas tank 3.7 gallons compared to other 250cc bikes.

Simple bike: 1 cylinder, 1 sparkplug, carb. and very little electronics or stuff to fail
Also simple means easier to work on yourself and save time and money taking to a motorcycle shop.

I didn't want any frills that could fail and cost a lot to get fixed.

Ride ergonomics: From listening to Carstuff podcast from Howstuffworks.com, they mentioned on an episode to pick a motorcycle that fits your body. And this website helped me toggle through many different bikes available to me on craigslist.

Great tool

I'm a big guy 6'3'' , 34" length pants and 250 pounds so the GZ turned out to be the most comfortable in my minds eye to ride. I had also rode a similar bike in a motorcycle basic ride course. I didn't want to be leaned forward like sport bikes or the knees bent like that.

why I got a GZ 250

I wanted to get back into riding at the age of 68. I rode the GZ 250 while taking the Pa motorcycle training and I liked it so much that after I passed I bought one.

It's Fuel Tank and average per 100KM made me fan of this bike. This bike produce good Fuel Average rather then its competitor while having good amount of Torque.
