Deadman,

I'll give the doc marten's a look. My kids used to wear them, some of them had sort of A Clockwork Orange look to them (not that they knew what I was talking about) but I seem to recall there were a lot of different models. The CAT (Caterpillar) boots I bought sort of were doc marten-y... bailed on those because I was too lazy and impatient to add the lacing time into the already too long pre-ride suit up. The doc's might look a little less like moon boots than the Alpinestar Ridge's.

I like em. They're pull ons, so easy on/off.

Also, solution for lace-up boots, go to a military surplus store and buy some lace-in zippers. Those work well. You run the laces through, tighen and tie and ur done. Just zip on/of after.

Late to the party. Haven't logged on in a while. But here is my 2 cents worth:

Most of the time I wear a pair of work boots - rubber soles - Wellington style. But maybe 30 % of the time commuting to work, I just have on a pair of Merrell's slip ons. No ankle protection on the down side. Easy on and great traction on the up side.

I have a pair of actual Motorcycle boots. They are square toe and slip on but just not very comfortable.

I just picked up a pair of Brazos Police/Emergency service boots for Christmas.

They're very nice, comfortable like a shoe, and wearable for many hours without any noticeable pain. They have the "jungle boots" but I think the tread pattern would be a bit hard to fight with when moving around on the pegs.

The boots are tied all the way up, but come with a zipper side for easy on/off and it works like a charm. They're waterproof up to 6" and I've ridden with them in 35 degree weather and there was no discernible wind incursion. I would recommend them to anybody who doesn't want to spend a lot.
