Spoke and rim question

First of hello everyone, and thanks for this great forum and community. I just purchased a 2006 gz 250 from my buddy as my everyday vehicle when i moved to Colorado about 2 months ago. Thanks to the info iv found here and talking to some motorcycle buddies iv had a blast and learned how to be safe while riding.

Yesterday on my way to work the bike started to slip and ride awkwardly, when i parked i noticed that 3 to 5 spokes has snapped off feeling unsafe to ride the 20 miles back home i got a ride. Now im trying to figure out the next move, should i replace the spoked rim assembly or take to get the spokes replaced and tightened, a near by kawasaki dealership quoted me at 250 just for labor. any help will be appreciated

Re: Spoke and rim question

I can't say for sure but I would imagine you could get a new rim for that much.

Re: Spoke and rim question

If your rim is damaged, I would get a new one of course - about $150. A set of spokes is about $40. So either way, I would shop around for a better deal, $210 labor cost just to put 5 spokes in is a quite steep.
