think my battery is dying.

so its not been started in a while, i havent been riding much laltey, so many people i know crashing latley,

go to fire it up and before i could get gas back in the carb the battery ran dead, witch was a total of maybe 10-15 seconds of cranking it.

i see batterys at autozone where you got to put in the acid and watter your self, any one ever get one of those.

never had to replace a motorcycle battery before so i don't know if there all like that or what.

Re: think my battery is dying.

It might be dead, but I'd try a charger on it before I bought a new battery. I think you want an AGM type and probably want to get it from a Suzi dealer or on-line. I've had the seat off and the battery out of mine - it's easy to replace even for a non-mechanic type. You could also try to jump from your car and ride around for a while (see other posts on how to do this without effing things up.

Danny, if you are in a hurry get the battery locally if you can. The AGM batteries come with the Electrolyte mixture ready to fill the battery cells and are really a neat idea. 6 little joined containers that drain directly into the battery cells to the proper level. Follow proper charging info and go for a ride with confidence.

Re: think my battery is dying.

Hello, Mr. Danny
I heard that some batteris (new) need to be charged initially before hook up on the bike.
Otherwise, the battery will not work well ??
Did you charge fully before installing to the bike? (just a guess)

this battery was on the bike when i bough it, and it died over the winter, i charged it up and it worked, yesterday it died again and than died a second time after it was charged.

but hey i guess i will get a new one some time... my new hobby is sucking up all my money lol....

EDIT i was just at the gas station and pushed some guy on a shadow so he could start his bike, i saw him trying to get it going fast enough with his feet and no luck.. lol. guess me and that guy are in the same boat but at least he got to ride his lol...

Waiting won't cause it to be any better.
When it gets weak enough, even a "push" won't start it.

yeah i know its not gonna start, especially since i dont have any gas in the carb and i dont have a prime setting on my bike.

i havent been riding much this summer, quite a few people i know have got in wrecks and none of the wrecks were their fault.. so i am not all that worried about it.. i actually have it up for sale on craigs list.

i just has a sudden urge to go riding the other day and that is when i found the dead battery...

Re: think my battery is dying.

Danny are you positive there is no prime setting for the petcock ? Also get a new battery and thoroughly charge it. A running bike will sell, a non running bike will gather dust or go for a much lower price.

no it does not have a prime or or run or any thing, there is no adjustable switch on the petcock,

if i remember correctly it runs off vacuum and automatically opens when you turn the key and hit the start button, i cant remember exactly but when i first got the bike i looked it up to find out where the heck the prime and run level was and there is not one... i will show you a picture of the petcock, the hose with the spring like thig is the fuel line, and the wires hanging down are for my led kit, i need to put them back up.

if some one calls about it ill get a new battery but i just dont want to spend the money on it at the moment...
