Safety Recall 2002-2007 GZ250 K2-K7 models

All owners of the subject models need to go in to have their reflector replaced, according to a notice I received from Suzuki. Quote:

"WARNING
Suzuki recommends that you do not ride the affected 2002-2007 GZ250K2-K7 motorcycle after dark until the repair has been completed
To minimize the risk of injury or death, we recommend that you do not ride, or allow anyone else to ride, your motorcycle after dark until your motorcycle has been repaired by your Suzuki dealer".

It has to do with that the reflectors performance at some angles is less than the federal vehicle safety standards.

Yep. I got the notice in the mail today. Think the dealer will just give me the parts to go?

Who else here is expecting a reflector to help keep them safe at night?

That's silly.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm betting the answer is no. They get paid for installing these buy Suzuki.

I got mine today. I need some new reflectors. I discovered my front ones missing a few weeks ago. The mount and the screws were still there but the reflectors were gone.

I rode from Columbus GA to Tallahassee FL, 200 miles at night without them. I'm not dead yet. I probably will not have them installed I'm not letting the local dealer touch my bike. Not even for reflectors.

I am not allowing the local dealer to touch the gz. I will call them and see if I can get the parts. If not, oh well; 11,300 miles this year on the little thing and I do not think the reflectors helped me any. If people cannot see a taillight, headlight, running lights, turn signals, then they will not see a little reflector.

Mandatory? Well, no one can force you to take it in and have it done. But, if you ever go in for service they will insist on doing it, free of charge of coarse.
