Mechanic from Canada, eh?

Hello all,

I'm Dave from up North, in Manitoba. I'm 26, have been working as a mechanic since I was 16 and been riding/playing around with small engines since long before then.

My main ride is a 2008 SV650 ABS that sees occasional race duty. Also in the stable I have:

1999 Suzuki TL1000R
1982 Yamaha XS400
1976 Yamaha XS500
1974 Honda CB550F

What can I say, I love finding these old machines on the buy and sell, in terrible shape, and putting them back on the road before they hit the scrapyard. I've bought, fixed, and sold many old machines that were destined for pop cans.

Wife rides a brand new CBR250R ABS, but we picked her up an '02 GZ to tool around on and learn the basics a bit better. I love this little thing! Worked on them for years, but never actually rode one. It was very cheap, but needed quite a bit of TLC. I only have one shoddy pic for now:

And the SV:

You'll find me mostly in the mechanical sections. Ive had these carburetors apart at least 100 times. Diagnosed tons of no-starts, and every other issue you could think of. I've rebuilt about 5 of these engines and gearboxes.

That's about it.

Welcome Dave, glad you found us. Please stick around and share your knowledge with bikes and such. We can always use another experienced member.

The GZ looks in fair shape in the pic. I really like the last pic of the SV with the Subie in the background.

Welcome form Gods own, New Zealand.

That SV is a nice looking bike. Wanna trade for my 89 ZX10 ? I might even throw a picture of my GZ in, if you're lucky.
