I have no idea where to look for saddle bags for my new 2000 GZ...
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Re: Saddle Bags

Suzuki sells saddlebags and saddlebag supports specifically for the GZ.. Any dealer can order them. I think you might be able to buy them direct as well. Use the search feature, I think there are some threads and pictures on here. I have them on mine. They are on the small side, but, then again, they sort of have to be as there's not a lot of room between the fender and the exhaust pipe. If you can't find pictures, let me know and I'll take some and post.

They are a little tricky to install as it involved getting a socket wrench up inside the wheel well and onto a bolt head so it doesn't slip when you are tightening the nut. But I'm not exactly Mr. Tool Time and I got the whole thing done in under an hour. Probably could have been easier if there'd been room for a lock washer.

I'm not a huge fan of the Suzuki bags. I'm more of a ballistic nylon zipper/velcro guy and these are leather with buckles. Look kind of girlie and a pain to fasten and unfasten.

Re: Saddle Bags

Go to ebay and search for "saddle bags" and you will find a lot of listings. You can also search "GZ 250" and probably find some supports listed as well. I've had small and some pretty large saddle bags on my GZ at times. I had to make a "heat shield" for the large ones because of the proximity to the exhaust pipe.

Ebay! Check this link out!

I have these bags, nice for the price. I had no real problem with the installation. (Just took my time) I like the bags, look like real leather but. Don't look to big for the bike, don't need a heat shield! Don't forget the support brackets, they can be found on ebay too!

IMHO I think it depends on the bags. Mine are really stiff leather, & the rear springs hold them off the wheel. I've had no problems in 9000 miles.

You are right, depends on the bags, don't think the Suzuki ones really require brackets. I bought them because you are suppose to use them. Good point + a cost saver!
